Chippenham 3rds – 22 Bath Saracens 48
Four tries in each half saw Bath Saracens collect 5 precious away points from their latest Dorset & Wilts fixture. The visitor’s forwards dominated the set plays and this provided the opportunity for their backs to run in 7 of the 8 tries.
Sarries opened the scoring when left wing Werner Vasseur touched down in the corner, however the hosts soon levelled with a try of their own. The visitor’s right wing Jamie Hurst then touched down in his own corner to regain the lead. A second try for Vasseur was followed by a length of the pitch effort from centre Jamie Navarette, and this saw Sarries bag a bonus point before the half time break.
The second half saw the home side close the gap with their second try, before Sarries regained control of the game and added 4 further touch downs. Fly half Alex Reilly, scrum half Ed Bell, flanker Spike Hart and each crossed the line before Vasseur secured his hat trick. Bell & Reilly added 2 conversions each before Chippenham scored 2 late tries to secure a bonus point of their own.
Sarries now have a break from league action until the New Year when they start 2017 with an away trip to league-leaders Avonvale. They will be holding their Christmas draw at the Hadley Arms this Saturday, 17th December, commencing at 5.30 pm. All players, members and friends are invited to attend.
